Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles, an American comedian, actor, author and author, was born in New York. He was a respected and well-known entertainer. He had a mix of humor and quick wit and a sincere love for his audience which made him an ideal source of laughter, fun and entertainment. He was a regular in celebrity roast circuits due to his incredible talent of making an insult sound inoffensive and funny. His jokes were often cruel and hurtful, however he could make the receiver laugh. He started his comedy career with a variety of prepared jokes. However, he discovered that audiences liked his spontaneous insults over traditional material. His style endeared him to a number of fans that included the legendary Frank Sinatra. He released two comedy albums, and appeared in a variety of film and TV shows. He was awarded many awards, including the "Lifetime Achievement" award at The Comedy Awards. Don Rickles had only small TV roles when his graduation. In order to supplement his income, Rickles began performing stand-up comedy. He was eventually referred to as an 'insult comedian'. He began the 1970s in an important role in the film "Kelly's Heroes" (1970), starring Clint Eastwood. He was also a part of TV comedy shows such as "The Don Rickles' (1972) or "The Dean Martin Roasts" (1973). Don Rickles married Barbara Sklar on March 14, 1965. The couple had two kids: Mindy and Larry. Their son passed away in the year 2011. Bob Newhart was their best friend and they frequently took vacations together. They were on various shows including "Newhart" as well as Don Rickles passed away from kidney failure at his Beverly Hills home on April 6, 2017.
