Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer with Irish descent was a well-known character. The fiery, passionate characters she appeared in myriad of American films were loved by the beautiful green-eyed beauty sporting flaming hair and flaming eyes. Her beautiful and glamorous appearance was much appreciated and she was referred to as the "Queen of Technicolor in Hollywood. Her character onscreen was a reflection of her strong, brave spirit that struggled for her survival and fame in a male-dominated industry. She called herself "the tough Irish woman" and she would not be willing to sacrifice admiration for other people to be able to play the roles she was entitled by merit. She was a strong advocate for women on television and in films, and gained a lot of followers due to this. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", released in 2004, gave an unflinching review of her life , including the struggles she faced to climb the ladder to success. She was an adventurous lady who was not frightened of doing her own stunts. She was an actress in over 60 films over the years and was a pillar of international fame. Moving on from Parra and remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier and chief pilot and an early pioneer in transatlantic air travel, to mention a few achievements. O'Hara was retired a couple of years after their marriage. But her joy was fleeting as Blair passed away in a tragic plane crash in the year 1978. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer in the same year and underwent an immediate procedure. The cancer eventually cleared. In the following years her health declined and she was diagnosed with six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and type 2 diabetes mellitus. O'Hara, at 95 years of age, died peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on 24 October 2015.
