Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora is a British artist and singer. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. Besim Sahatciu is the granddaughter of her mother. When she was just one, her family took the decision to relocate to England. She was born in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She began singing at the age of a very young age.In 2004 she appeared in the British film Spivs. She was a contestant on Eurovision: Your Country requires You on BBC One to be the British contestant for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest however, she later withdrew from the competition after a few weeks because she didn't feel prepared. In 2007, Ora got her first music album when she performed on the track by Craig David entitled "Awkward" and again in 2008 on "Where's Your Love" with Tinchy Stryder. For this track, she also appeared in the video. Ora began singing in bars around London and in 2009 an A&R representative told Roc Nation about Ora, a few days after Ora took a flight to New York and met Jay-Z. In 2009, Ora made a cameo in Jay-Z's video of "Young Forever" and "Over" by Drake. Ora got the attention of Jay-Z and he was able to sign her up to Roc Nation, in which she appeared in a commercial for Roc Nation + Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was the owner of a pub, and she started her career as a singer from the same bar. She cites Gwen Stefani as a major influence on her demeanor, and her band No Doubt's "Don't speak" (1996) is among her favourite songs.Her video for Tezenis's, The Silk Code, is the title of the novel that received the Locus Award for Best First Science Fiction Novel in 1999.She was seriously considered to play Iris West in Justice League (2017) before Kiersey Cymons was chosen as the character.
