Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family and she moved overseas when she was only three. Summer attended British and American schools while her family was living abroad. returning to her home town of Pasadena just short of her 14th birthday. Summer, who had been infatuated with the idea that she would become an actor from the age five, took her first acting course at age 14. Nine months after that, she signed with an agent/manager and embarked on a full-time profession. She is currently pursuing her degree at college in her free time. She was among the young stars included in Vanity fair's cover article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Most Hot Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of "Ten actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began taking acting lessons when she was 14. In just one year, Bishil was signed to a contract by a manager or agency. Bishil started her career as a character on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was offered a contract with a manager and agency. Her first big break was in the film of Alan Ball, Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most genuine thing in a movie that, in spite of its noble intentions, comes off as phony and somewhat embarrassing, as an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss, who writes for a variety of Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the best natural actresses in film to appear over the last few years." Gary Goldstein, in a September 12 Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead said that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) is a stunning and impressive performance as Jasira. In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender, and was supposed to be the subject of the planned , but never produced sequel.
